7th International Conference on Flood Management (ICFM7) 🗓

The 7th International Conference on Flood Management (ICFM7) seeks to further advance global research, practice and policy in flood management.

With an emphasis on ‘resilience’, the theme for ICFM7 marks the further progress of integrated approaches to flood management which were first embraced as the International Symposia on Flood Defence (Kassel 2000, Beijing 2002, Nijmegen 2005 and Toronto 2008) before transforming into the International Conference on Flood Management (ICFM5 in Tokyo 2011 and ICFM6 in São Paulo 2014).

ICFM offers a biennial international conference platform to discuss a range of flood related issues and realise significant change in a multidisciplinary, multisectoral area. It is designed to bring together practitioners and researchers alike, including engineers, planners, natural and social scientists, health specialists, disaster managers, decision makers, and policy makers engaged in various aspects of flood management. It provides a unique opportunity for these various specialists to come together to exchange ideas and experiences.

ICFM7 will be held in Leeds, UK on 5 -7 September 2017, and will be organised by water@leeds, the water research centre at the University of Leeds, in conjunction with a range of conference partners and sponsors. The theme of ICFM7 is ‘Resilience to Climate Change – Anticipating the Unexpected’ and will focus on building resilience into current flood management strategies and approaches. This website offers a range of information about the conference and will be continually updated in the run up to the conference so please do keep coming back to find out more or contact us at icfm7@leeds.ac.uk
